Battle Over Bingo In Chickasaw

The City of Chickasaw is still planning on opening a new electronic gaming facility Thursday despite the heated battle over bingo in Alabama. We took a tour of the facility to find out why they're not worried about being shut down by the Governor's Anti-Gambling Task Force. The machine supplier says bingo at the old JC Davis Auditorium is legal because unlike illegal slot machines it's an interactive game of skill not chance. Pete Bridges, the machine supplier, says as required by law players will have to know when to mark their bingo card, recognize a winning bingo pattern and they must claim their bingo win, if they don't they will lose, "go back to the difference between this game and the game that's being played in Atmore where there's an auto win feature, if you win, you automatically, you don't have to take any action in order to claim your win, here the Supreme Court says that you have to be able to recognize that you have a winning pattern," said Bridges. Whether or not the machines will pass the test is still unclear. We called John Tyson Jr. who heads up the Anti-Gambling Task Force, he says he's investigating and if he finds the machines are illegal he will enforce the law.
