This Bon Secour homeowner did not want to be identified but says he was nearly ripped off! The homeowner told us two men offered to pave his driveway for an unbelievable price, but the negotiation went bad in a matter of minutes.
"He told me he had a good deal for me, that he'd pave my driveway for 16-hundred dollars. He did a third of my driveway and then he comes back to me and tells me he calculated wrong and the price went from 16-hundred to 45-hundred dollars."
Investigators say the men are part of an organized crime ring called gypsy travelers. The thieves have home base operations in major cities across the U-S and hit the highways posing as home repairmen.
Deputies were able to catch Adam and Keith Burton because they were in the area responding to another scam. The brothers have been charged with home repair fraud. Detectives believe the men are part of a larger group of travelers that hit at least two other families in the Foley area.
"It looks like a good deal then you kick yourself in the rear. Buyer beware...buyer beware."
