Thousands of jobs are up for grabs with the Air Force tanker contract and that contest is kicking into high gear this week.
A group of Mobile city and county leaders are headed to the nation's capital on Tuesday to push for a dual buy. The local tanker team wants the Air Force to allow both Boeing *and* Northrop Grumman/EADS to build the new refuelers.
Team members here say making all sides winners will end the political battle and put Americans to work.
A new website was launched to push the dual buy idea. Click here for site.
Boeing supporters have also launched a new site. Click here for site.
In the next few days, the military is expected to release its Final Request for Proposal (RFP) for the 40 billion dollar contract.
The Northrop team has already said publicly that if the military's requirements don't change on the final proposal, they won't bid at all.
