Biloxi’s 160-year-old sentinel of light is looking pretty good. City officials are having a special rededication ceremony tonight at 5:45. The lighthouse is repainted with markets showing storm surge levels throughout its life. Officials say they’ve repaired and repaint the structure at a cost of more than $400,000. They consider it the most recognizable landmark in Biloxi.

“It's on our city emblem, when you see this lighthouse, whenever you talk about Biloxi this is the image that people see so it was important that we were able to save it,” says city of Biloxi Historical Administrator Bill Raymond. The lighthouse will be open for public tours from 10am to 2pm Saturday.
