A local Teacher of the Year facing DUI and sex abuse charges was back in court this morning.

Charles Lewis' attorney, John Beck, asked for a continuance in the drunk driving case. Lewis was arrested January 4 on his way to a teacher work day at Causey Middle School.

Baldwin County District Court Judge Michelle Thomason granted the delay. Lewis' bench trial was rescheduled for March 17.

Meanwhile, Lewis will be in court again Thursday for a preliminary hearing on allegations that he sexually touched a 9 year old boy. The 6th grade science teacher was arrested on the charge last month. The alleged victim is not one of his students, according to investigators.

Lewis is on paid administrative leave from Causey Middle School.
