With the weather as cold as it was Wednesday night in Mobile, would you go outside if you didn't have to?
On top of that, would you do strenuous exercises outside if you didn't have to?
A group of people in Mobile did that.
They're members of Cindy Lane Ross's exercise class she calls "outdoor boot camp."
When asked why exercise outside, Ross said, "Its fun. You get to see falling stars, sunrise, sunsets, its great. I know its cold, but that's what makes the fun of it."
When asked what she thought about working out in cold weather, one of the class members, Beth Donivan, said, "I'd rather work out in the cold weather than the hot weather. You don't sweat as bad."
Of course, there are some differences in working out in cold weather as opposed to exercising inside.
Ross said, "It takes a little bit longer to warm up. That's why we do a pretty good stretch. But, as far as health benefits, you get the circulation going. You get the same as if its warm out here."
When asked if she was cold, Missy Arensberg said, "No, not any more. I had a jacket on until we did our first lap and then I had to take it off."
To work out in cold weather, you need motivation.
Joshua Maitra wants to make the Baker High School football team.
When asked why he was doing this, Maitra said to "help stay in shape, keep my cardio up."
But he admitted he was "very cold."
After Wednesday night's class, Ross said her next class was 5 am Thursday.
Experts say one good tip to remember when exercising outside: start your workout, when you exercise the hardest, facing into the wind so you'll avoid having it blow in your perspiring face and body when you come back.
