The remains of a U.S. Air Force officer have been found at the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. U.S. Southern Command reports that Maj. Kenneth Bourland's body was recovered Sunday, more than three weeks after the military began the search and rescue phase of its disaster relief.
When the earthquake hit Jan. 12, Bourland had been in the country as part of a group visiting Haitian defense and security officials. Bourland was among four other U.S. military personnel in the Hotel Montana when the 7.0 earthquake struck. The others survived, but Bourland had been listed as unaccounted since the
disaster.
The 37-year-old Alabama native is survived by his parents, Dennis and Adrienne Bourland, of Cook Springs, Ala., and his sister Kellie Bourland.
