These World War Two veterans have seen a lot...and experienced decades of excitement and intrigue. But the men will soon add another adventure to their resumes when they serve as grand marshal's of the Orange Beach Mardi Gras parade.
"It'll be an interesting experience," says veteran Ed Borman. "None of us have done it before so it'll be good to get together with the guys."
"It's a little bit of an honor to be honored by the city and be in a parade," says veteran Joe Grimes. "I know we'll enjoy it."
The men recently enjoyed a free trip to Washington to visit the World War Two Memorial courtesy of Honor Flight South Alabama. The Honor Flight Network is a national organization that transports veterans to our nation's capital to visit several war memorials. The City of Orange Beach wanted to recognize these heroes on Fat Tuesday for their duty and sacrifice.
"They will see that we truly appreciate them and we'll be able to expose the Honor Flight program and what it does," says Mayor Tony Kennon.
The big parade rolls down Beach Boulevard Fat Tuesday at 1:30pm.
