The Alabama Supreme Court's decision tosses out lower court orders that would block raids like one at Country Crossing in Dothan.
The vote was seven to two.
Governor Riley calls it a victory for the rule of law., "No court has the ability to stop a legitimate law enforcement action. After this, you will not have the ability to go to a local judge and stop a legitimate investigation".
It's the second time The Supreme Court has made the ruling, but an attorney for Country Crossing wants to challenge Riley and Tyson in county court. Jim Parkman says, "Let's put the cards on the table. Let's lay out the evidence. Please let me cross examine your witnesses. Please give me that opportunity and that fun, and then lets see what the verdicts gonna be".
There's also a push to let you decide.
State Representative Marcel Black of Tuscumbia has proposed a constitutional amendment allowing electronic bingo at Greyhound Dog Tracks, Country Crossing, White Hall, and other locations.
For now, all electronic bingo gaming operations in Alabama are closed. An attorney for Victoryland says if the task force tries to enter their business without a search warrant, that's ttresspassing. As for the next planned move by the task force, Tyson says, "When and if we go somewhere, you will find out about it..but, it will necessarily have to be after the fact".
