Former Circuit Court Judge Herman Thomas will fight to get his law license back at an Alabama State Bar hearing in Mobile.
The hearing, which at this time is not open to the public, is scheduled for 9am on February 22, according to Tony McLain, General Counsel for the State Bar.
Thomas' law license was suspended in March 2009 after he was indicted by a Mobile County Grand Jury on allegations that he paddled and sexually abused defendants in his courtroom in exchange for leniency from the bench.
The organization's Disciplinary Committee made the decision to suspend Thomas' licenses based on evidence submitted during a hearing last year. At the time, the committee said the evidence "establishes probable cause to believe Herman Young Thomas has engaged in improper sexual conduct with criminal defendants."
Thomas was cleared of the charges after a three week jury trial in October. Last month he announced he is running for the Alabama State Senate.
