According to Prichard Spokesperson Latoya Veal, two twelve-year old boys were playing with a gun Saturday night, when the gun accidentally went off.
One of the boys was shot in the face.
When Prichard Police arrived they found one of the boys lying on the porch with a hole in the left side of his face. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released.
Police were initially told (by the non-victim 12-year-old) that it was a home invasion and a man came through the back door and shot the boy. An investigation showed that the boys made up the story and admitted to playing with the gun.
Police found out the gun was stolen from Mobile on September 3, 2006, but are not saying who the gun belonged to.
They are still investigating and charges could be pending.
