A Gulf Shores High School football player has been kicked off the team, suspended and could be expelled after police say he brutally assaulted another player.
The attack happened Wednesday after practice in the team's shower room.
"We did discover some injuries which made this an assault," says Lt. Bill Cowan of the Gulf Shores Police Dept. "It was a violation of Alabama law."
Authorities would not tell us exactly what happened in the lockeroom shower because it involves two juveniles, but say it was violent. Police say it was more than just horseplay or "boys being boys."
"This sort of behavior will not be tolerated," says Terry Wilhite, Communications Director with the Baldwin County Board of Education. "This was ultimately a bad decision on the students part, one that could now cost him his football career, has gotten him in hot water with police, the court system, just an overall bad decision."
