Mobile Mayor Sam Jones has come up with three options that could possibly solve the city's budget problems.
In an interview this morning with News Five's Kesshia Peyton, Jones said a 10 percent pay cut for all city employees, a $17.53 garbage fee, and a 1 percent sales tax would help the city's $14 million dollar budget shortfall.
When asked which option could be the one to balance the budget, Mayor Jones said the 1 percent sales tax. If the city council passes either the 10 percent pay cut or the garbage fee, the city would still be more than $8 million in the hole.
If the 1 cent sales tax is passed, it would give the city an almost $8 million surplus by the end of September 2011.
