Some neighbors are concerned about crime near Murphy High School in Mobile. That's why they're meeting Wednesday night as part of a newly formed Community Action Group. Just this month, a teacher was robbed before school in a campus parking lot. Also this month, a Murphy student was arrested for bringing a gun to school. We spoke with one neighbor who is heading up the new Community Action Group. She wants to do what she can to make her neighborhood a safer place, "I not only live in the area, I'm also a parent of a child at Murphy, so, we want to make sure that people keep an eye out for each other and know what's going on so that we can take action when we see something that doesn't look right," says Michele Nolen-Schmidt of Mobile. Mobile Police say they've increased patrols near Murphy even though overall crime in the area is down by 22 percent from this time last year. But, we took a closer look at the numbers and they show reports of assaults, burglaries, and robberies are up.
