Some parents are worried they'll have to shell out more money for their child's state-funded education. That's why the group “Save Alabama Pact” met in midtown Mobile today, 9/20/09. That's the “Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program.” Organizers say they're worried they won't get a return on the money they invested in the program. Many local officials say they need help honoring those investments.

“I think there is a huge consensus of opinion among elected officials that a solution has got to be found to make sure that the that the pact meets its commitments,” says State Senator Ben Brooks. Some of the money invested through the Alabama Pact program was put in equities and stocks before the market crash of 2008.
