Mobile Area Water and Sewer System experienced multiple sanitary sewer overflows on Sept. 18 as a result of heavy rains and flooding. The overflows abated when the rain stopped. Overflow locations, amounts and receiving waters are listed below.

Dr. Bernard Eichold, Health Officer, Mobile County Health Department, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of these overflows. Individuals who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly. Dr. Eichold also advises area residents to take precautions if using any of the receiving waters for recreational purposes. All seafood harvested in the affected areas should be thoroughly cooked before consumption. Individuals should wash their hands after cleaning any fish or other seafood and also before preparing food.
