Saturday Art Walk In Mobile

Some local artists are helping raise money for a good cause. Holiday Place Village hosted an art walk along Old Shell Road and Springhill Avenue today, 9/19/09. The event helped raise money for Penelope House. It runs until 5 pm this afternoon. Organizers say they were able to raise a couple thousand dollars for the charity that helps victims of domestic violence. More than 20 artists and musicians gathered for the event. Organizers say they wanted to draw attention to their neck of the woods.

“We're trying to get a few more people out there realizing Springhill is a nice place to come shop and with the side walks it's a nice place to walk and bring their children,” says business owner William McGinnis. The art walk kicked off Friday night with a special preview evening.
