Alabama Attorney General Troy King says
he will seek a capital murder indictment against a Birmingham-area
man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife
during their honeymoon in Australia.
A court in Australia on Friday added six months to the one-year
prison term that Gabe Watson received earlier. Watson admitted
responsibility in the death of wife Tina Watson during a scuba
diving trip in Australia in 2003.
But King says the sentence still isn't long enough. And he will
ask an Alabama grand jury to indict Watson for capital murder.
A statement from King's office didn't explain how Watson could
be charged in Alabama since the death occurred in Australia and
Watson already has pleaded guilty.
