It was a packed house at the Whistle Stop Café this morning. Dozens of residents and business owners crowded the restaurant to hear what city officials have to say about another closure of Florida Street. The final portion of the first phase of the Florida Street drainage project begins Monday and should run, weather willing, for eight weeks. City officials say crews will dig a culvert underneath the railroad tracks at Florida Street and Dauphinwood Drive. Some business owners say they’re frustrated but at least happy that city officials seem to be making a better effort at communicating plans for the project. This will be the third holiday shopping season in a row where businesses along Florida Street may be hit with traffic detour problems. You can see the traffic changes here.
