CARNIVAL ELATION TO OPERATE FOUR- AND FIVE-DAY CRUISES

Vessel To Replace Sister Ship Carnival Fantasy On Popular Western Caribbean Route
MIAMI (September 17, 2009) – Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,052-passenger Carnival Elation will be deployed to Mobile, Ala., to operate the line’s popular four- and five-day western Caribbean cruise program beginning in May 2010. Carnival is the only cruise line to offer year-round departures from Mobile.
Carnival Elation will replace the 2,052-passenger Carnival Fantasy, a sister ship of the same size which will operate a series of four- and five-day cruises from Mobile from November 2009 to May 2010 then reposition to Charleston, S.C., to launch that port’s first year-round cruise program .
On its new Mobile-based schedule, Carnival Elation will depart the Alabama Cruise Terminal Thursdays on four-day cruises to Cozumel and Mondays and Saturdays on five-day voyages to Cozumel and Calica or Progreso, Mexico.
Carnival Elation’s inaugural departure from Mobile will be a special seven-day cruise to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel departing May 15, 2010. Five other seven-day western Caribbean voyages will be offered throughout the year.
Carnival Elation is expected to carry more than 170,000 passengers annually from Mobile.
Prior to the start-up of service from Mobile, Carnival Elation will operate a 15-day Panama Canal cruise from San Diego to Mobile April 30 – May 15, 2010. This cruise will visit Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; and George Town, Grand Cayman in addition to a full transit of the Panama Canal.

Carnival Elation entered service in 1998 and offers a wide range of on-board facilities and features: 12 lounges and bars, including a 1,300-seat theater showcasing lavish revues, a 12,000-square-foot health spa, a jogging track, and organized programs for children in three age groups – Camp Carnival (2-11), Circle “C” (12-14) and Club O2 (15-17).
Also featured is Serenity, a secluded adults-only retreat with teak-style decking, colorful umbrellas and comfortable chaise lounges and chairs.
Dining options include two formal restaurants, a 700-seat casual poolside eatery featuring a 24-hour pizzeria, a patisserie and complimentary 24-hour stateroom service. Cell phone service and ship-wide Internet access is also available.
All of the Carnival Elation’s 1,026 staterooms feature the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens and pillows.
Carnival Elation currently sails from San Diego and will continue its three-, four- and five-day cruise schedule from that port through the departure of April 26, 2010.
Carnival will being accepting reservations for the Carnival Elation’s four-, five- and seven-day voyages from Mobile beginning on Thursday, September 17, 2009.
