Some young mobile musicians are learning it takes more than a pretty face on stage to make money in music. It's a chance to rock out and learn at the Mobile Civic Center today, 9/12/09. Dozens of aspiring Mobile musicians were taking part in today's music industry education program. Students got a chance to work with professional musicians and song writers. The program was put on as part of BayFest 2009. Organizers say musicians need to understand showmanship along with intellectual property and copyright law if they want to make a living at music.

“Then how our songs how our recordings are going to be used how that money is distributed and how it is accounted for,” says Troy University Music Professor Robert W. Smith. The students taking part in the program are in the running for one of 15 $1,000 scholarships. Winners will be announced before BayFest in a couple weeks. The band you see in the video is the Mobile-based Top of the Orange.
