(AP) - Police in Mobile say two Mobile County
students were arrested for bringing guns to school.
Police spokesman Cpl. Charles Bagsby says a 16-year-old Murphy
High School freshman and a 15-year-old Mobile County Training
School seventh-grader were charged with carrying a pistol without a
permit and were taken to Strickland Youth Center.
Mobile County public school spokeswoman Nancy Pierce says both
students have been suspended.
Bagsby said the Murphy student came to school Thursday with an
unloaded .22-caliber pistol in his backpack, and a fellow student
told an administrator who removed the 16-year-old from class and
found the gun.
Bagsby says the seventh-grader got into a fight at school and
pulled out a .25-caliber handgun, causing fellow students to
scatter. He says the pistol was not loaded.
