Four-year old Joshua Simeon says he will miss his great uncle.
"It makes me sad because Uncle Mac got hit by a car and he died," says Simeon.
Malcom June's entire family says they will miss him.
"It's very disheartening to think that somebody could do this and not think about the family," says June's niece, Monique Simeon. "He has a family, we're going to miss him, we're going to miss him a lot."
June, known as "Mac" to his family and friends, was hit and killed by a car while walking home from the hospital early Wednesday morning. It happened at the intersection of Cervantes and H Streets. "Mac," who suffered from frequent seizures, had just checked out of the hospital, when he was hit. Mac got tired of waiting on a taxi to pick him up, so he decided to walk home. The car that hit Mac did not stop. Investigators don't have a lead in the case. The incident happened in the middle of the night and unfortunately, nobody witnessed the hit and run.
"Turn yourself in," says Mac's friend, Tim Phillips. "If you did that, if you lost a loved one, you wouldn't want anybody to run over a family member of yours, then ride off and go about your business. Turn yourself in, because if not, your conscious will take care of you."
"We really need to know what happened," says Simeon. "And we need to know who did this. This is something that we have to know."
