Daphne Utilities wasn't messing around when they said pay up or pay the price. They made good on that promise Wednesday when they shut off sewer service to three delinquent customers in the Park City neighborhood. Daphne Utilities General Manager, Rob McElroy, says they gave customers every opportunity to get on a payment plan for years of back payments. Originally, there were 65 customers owing around 85-thousand dollars. But, that number was down to three customers owing about 10-grand as of Wednesday, "we have made every effort for somebody to come in and do the right thing and avoid this. The only people that we're addressing now are the people that absolutely refuse every overture to come in and just do the right thing," said McElroy. The Baldwin County Health Department will get a list of the homes where the sewer was cut off. A supervisor says they will be investigating whether or not there is a public health threat. Homeowners could face legal action if the problem is not corrected and there is a health threat.
