At least one person is hurt after a car collides with a historic church downtown. Members of Government Street Methodist Church say a car collided with the side of their building Saturday afternoon on 9/5/09. They say at least one person was hurt. The cause of the accident is unknown. Pastor Rob Gulledge says there are several new cracks along the side wall, and part of the utility room was pushed away from the more than 100 year old structure.

“The masonry wall was pressed in about six to eight inches and there are cracks throughout, thankfully the electrical service is still in tact for today,” says Pastor Rob Gulledge. The pastor says the car didn't break through the church wall. The condition of the driver and passenger are unknown at this time.
