Big Marlin For Big Game Tournament

Talk about reeling in a big one. The Mobile Big Game Fishing Clublived up to its name this weekend. One of the anglers caught a gigantic blue marlin today, 9/6/09. The monster marlin weighed in at more than 500 pounds and was about nine and a half feet long. This was part of the fishing club's Labor Day tournament. About a hundred boats and four hundred anglers took part. Adam Bradford caught the big marlin; he says it took a lot to get it in the boat.

“[It’s] a lot of fun, I enjoy fishing a lot and we left on Friday night stayed out for two nights it's just a real enjoyable habit to have I guess,” says Bradford. After the weigh-in Bradford was tossed into the water. Club members say it’s a tradition. Proceeds from this weekend's tournament go to local charities along with the fish meat brought to shore. Bradford caught the largest fish but because of the points system he wasn't the overall winner. Another angler brought a blue marlin of equal length to Bradford's but not nearly as heavy.
