Mobile police arrested two men they say lead them on a chase after trying to pawn stolen construction tools.

Around 11:00 a.m. Monday, police got a call from Cash America Pawn Shop on Springhill Avenue. They said two men were trying to pawn stolen tools. The men left before police arrived.

Officers spotted the suspects on St. Stephens Road at Andrews Street. But they refused to pull over.

During the chase, the driver stopped the car, got out and ran. He was captured after a short foot chase. The passenger slid over to the driver seat and hit the gas. The police chase continued until the second suspect got out of the vehicle on Clark Ave. at Owens Street and ran.

Police determined the tools were stolen from a home in the 200 block of Woodhill Drive.

24-year-old Tyree Carter is charged with burglary, resisting arrest, and eluding the police.
