DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Dothan police have charged a former Girl
Scout troop leader with stealing $2,026 in scout cookie money.
Court records show police investigators arrested 31-year-old
Lisha Simone Ginn on Saturday and charged her with felony
second-degree theft of property. She's charged with stealing the
money on June 29.
Molly Smart, the spokesperson for the Girl Scouts of Southern
Alabama, said Ginn has been dismissed as the leader for the troop.
Smart says Ginn did not pay the cookie money for the troop,
which had planned to use the money for a tea party, the purchase of
patches and for upcoming troop events.
She said officials with the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama used
money from their accounts so the girls could still have their tea
party.
