A Baldwin County man who stood trial for murder is now free.
A jury has acquitted Eric Buzbee for the beating death of gas station owner Bobby Wilson.
He walked out of the Baldwin County jail free and clear Friday.
When asked what he thought when he heard the "not guilty" verdict read, Buzbee said, "I just knew I was coming home to my family where I belong."
Eric Buzbee attended a get-together with family and friends shortly after being found not guilty.
Neighbors put up signs welcoming Buzbee home.
When asked what life has been like for the last few months, Buzbee said, "Pardon my language. Its been like hell."
Buzbee's attorney, John Beck, said, "This young man is coming home where he belongs, and where he should have been for the last two years."
Buzbee said he never lost confidence.
He said, "I knew what was coming, I just didn't know when."
Buzbee did say prosecutors offered him a plea bargain.
He said, "They offered me a deal. They wanted me to plead guilty to felony murder. I can't make any deals when I know I didn't do something."
And, Buzbee said, if he didn't have his 85 year old grandfather, he probably wouldn't be home today.
Leslie Busbee said, "I've got a good family of people and I don't like to see them mistreated and done unjustly and, this boy got it, up to his ears."
When asked what he was going to do, Eric Buzbee said he was "going to get a job and raise my family."
But, for now, "We're just having a little family reunion, and may have a home cooked meal here pretty soon and sleep in the bed, finally."
District Attorney Judy Newcomb said the case is closed, and still believes Buzbee killed Wilson.
The Wilson family would not talk after the verdict.
