The father of injured Leflore High School football player Timothy Robinson says his son is progressing, though he is still in a coma. Andre Robinson says Timothy is showing signs of breathing on his own and doctors are hopeful they may be able to remove the young man from a respirator by next week. Timothy remains in ICU at Mobile Infirmary and is listed in stable condition.
Andre Robinson said though his son is not concious, he is beginning to respond to people around him. Timothy suffered a head injury earlier this month during a game. Doctors performed emergency neurosurgery to relieve pressure on his brain. Timothy has been in a coma ever since.
Andre expressed gratitude to Timothy's doctors, and the community for the outpouring of support. He said while the family does have medical coverage it is unlikely to cover all of Timothy's expenses. He said trust funds have been set up at Region's Bank and at the University of South Alabama Credit Union.
