Eight accusers down, six more to go in the Herman Thomas sex trial.
In court on Friday, the eighth accuser says he volunteered for the paddlings to avoid going to prison.
He testified that the former judge did more help than harm to him-- and his first encounter with Thomas was at the judge's home.
The accuser also said that Thomas was "like a monster" and "aint nobody gonna do the wrong thing in his eyesight." A few minutes later, the same alleged victim said he had no beef with Thomas.
Former court police officer John King also testified that he escorted at least ten men inside Government Plaza to meet with Thomas. When they arrived in the early hours of the morning, Thomas would reportedly meet them and tell King that everything was fine. King says he never saw the men leave.
Mobile County Drug court Judge Edward Blount Junior told the court that some of his cases involving young males were taken over by Thomas. even though he had no business doing it. Blount even testified that Thomas told him it would be bad for his campaign to keep certain suspects on his docket.
Defense Lawyer Jeff Deen wouldn't talk specifics about the case but said this to our cameras. "Well, what I have to say about today is that its been very laborious. I think I would rather take a paddling than sit through anymore of this trial."
Thomas is accused of dozens of crimes ranging from sex abuse to kidnapping and extortion. He resigned from the bench in 2007. His trial continues on Monday.
