Mobile County School kids are getting life lessons from former Major League Baseball players. Retired ballplayers Jim "Mudcat" Grant and Cleon Jones toured different schools around Mobile today, 10/16/09. I caught up with them at the Strickland Youth Center. This was an event put on by the Tommie Agee Foundation. The players say it's a chance to get kids motivated for a better education.
“We like to motivate them to look for a better life for themselves so if we can do that as MLB players we're very happy to do that all over this country,” says Jim “Mudcat” Grant. The players also visited the Mobile County Training School and Whitley Elementary. The Tommie Agee Foundation is a local non-profit that boosts other Gulf Coast charities.
