Bear Bryant's First QB At Alabama Dies

Former Alabama quarterback and Murphy High School graduate Bobby Jackson has died after a lengthy illness.

Jackson was Bear Bryant's first quarterback at Alabama in 1958. He also played for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson played for three of the games greatest coaches: Bear Bryant, Vince Lombardi and George "Papa Bear" Halas.

Jackson was inducted into the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11 Friday morning at Saint Ignatius Church in Mobile. A private burial service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.

Bobby Jackson was 73 years old.
