An 81-year-old homeowner shot and killed an intruder. It happened early Monday morning on Highway 31 near Brewton. The Escambia County Sheriff says Jeremy McCall was armed and masked when he busted into the home. Investigators believe he was after money, "the intruder kicked open the bedroom door and he was confronted with a man standing there wearing a ski mask, a black hooded jacket, rubber gloves and holding a pistol and he cocked it and pointed it at the homeowner and ordered the homeowner to drop his pistol and the homeowner shot him, shot one time and struck him in the forehead, killed him instantly," said Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith. The sheriff says McCall had been in the Escambia County Jail 5 times since September 2008 and had just been released from a jail in Nebraska this past weekend. The sheriff says the homeowners were acting in self defense and he doesn't expect them to face any charges.
