The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says a home invasion ended with gunfire and one man dead. But it was not the homeowner.
According to deputies, Jeremy McCall broke into a home on Highway 31, north of Brewton, around 3:00 a.m. He burst into the couple's bedroom and pointed a gun at them. The husband grabbed his gun and fired at McCall, killing him.
McCall's body was transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Mobile for an autopsy.
No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
