Sometimes, learning about history can be a real "blast.” That was the case today, 10/10/09, in Bon Secour. Bon Secour History Day took place at the Swift-Coles Historic Home where Civil War re-enactors provided some living history to visitors. During the Civil War, Bon Secour was a big salt provider to southern forces. People there were putting a spotlight on this home’s importance to the war effort.
“This was in the days before refrigeration so you had to have salt to preserve any meat any food that was to be used,” says Education and Events Official Mike Bailey. The Baldwin County Bicentennial Committee and the Baldwin County Department of Archives and History hosted today's Bon Secour History Day.
