Brewton Elementary School Teacher Arrested On Drug Charges

Police arrested Kelley Ball for possession of a controlled substance as part of an undercover investigation. Ball has been with Brewton City Schools for nearly 20 years.

A Brewton Elementary School teacher is arrested on drug charges.

Brewton police arrested 46-year-old Kelley Ball Thursday afternoon for possession of a controlled substance.

Ball teaches 4th grade and has been with Brewton City Schools since 1990. She earned a bachelor and masters degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University Montgomery.

According to Capt. Randy Nicholson, Ball was arrested near her home as part of an undercover investigation. Nicholson would not say what they controlled substance was.

Brewton City Schools Superintendent Lynn Smith tells News 5 he has spoken with police about ball's arrest. But he says he not taken any action because it's too early in the investigation.
