Why are these firefighters dangling from the 8th floor of a beachfront condominium?

"This is one of our most popular courses at the Alabama Fire College," says trainer Brian Maynard.

Fire departments from across Baldwin County are participating in high-rise rescue training.

"It's very important," says Spanish Fort Fire Chief Roger Few. "There are a lot of high-rises here and there's certainly an opportunity anywhere in the county to have a high-rise type rescue."

The certified rope technician rescue course has tested the strength and endurance of everyone. They've learned just how important teamwork, trust and communication is at 80 feet above the ground. Everyone involved in the course will be certified in rope rescue and will be part of the county's high-rise rescue team.
