Even though there were big discounted deals to be had on Black Friday, the poor economy changed the way some people shopped.
Bel Air Mall in Mobile was packed with people looking for a bargain.
But we noticed some of the shopping bags were not quite as large this year.
Some folks we spoke to say the economy has them cutting back on expensive gifts and they're being forced to pinch their pennies.
"Usually I have enough money from to buy from extended family all the way to friends now I'm just gonna have to do intermediate (sic) family," said Grand Bay resident Laken Anderson.
The holiday shopping season accounts for around 40% of annual sales and profits at many stores.
A spokesperson for Bel Air Mall says profits are usually great on Black Friday through the weekend.
