Volunteers were hard at work today serving more than 800 people at the Salvation Army's annual Thanksgiving Dinner. An Army spokesperson says the organization served 835 people at their downtown Mobile location.

Major Ted Morris, the Salvation Army's area commander, says more people are expected this year due to the current state of the economy. He says the Salvation Army is seeing new needy people who are seeking their help who haven't in the past. Major Morris says you do not have to be in need to come down and enjoy a good meal. He says the annual dinner is always free and open to anyone and everyone.

If you would like to volunteer with the Salvation Army call their volunteer services at 251-438-1625.
