A teen charged with fatally shooting a donkey last spring has been sentenced to nearly a year in jail.

An Escambia County judge sentenced 17-year-old Kyle Mason Driver to 11 months and 15 days in jail on Friday.

Driver was arrested as a juvenile on May 7, but his charges were later transferred to adult court.

The donkey's newborn foal also was wounded in the shooting. It required intensive care and bottle-feeding.
