Last week New Era Cap Company announced plant closures and the end of some 400 jobs. Then Goodrich Aerostructure in Foley says they'll lay off 78 people. We wanted to know who is hiring.
We found job openings at Ryla in Saraland. CEO Mark Wilson says they plan on hiring a lot more people.
"We plan to hire between 75 and 100 people each month at least out through May," he says.
And at the Sears Call Center on Demotropolis Road, they are also taking applications. How many people they want to hire is uncertain at this point.
"We don't have the exact numbers on that but we are still in the process of looking for more qualified applicants," says the company's James Williams.
Williams also says, "We looking for people with a sales background. You don't have to be computer savvy but a little bit of computer skills."
A Check with the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce also revealed more companies looking for workers. Granted, some jobs may require a higher level of skill and education than others.
Sears Holdings-telemarketing, UPS, UHaul, Staples. Austal will crank up recruitment pretty soon. Atlantic Marine has several positions. USA medical has several openings. Tk has several job announcements. Televox is looking for people with Sequel training. The census is actively hiring. Kimberly Heard Corporate Recruiter Satellites Unlimited, Inc Satellite installers.
