A coal miner inspecting a mine in Alabama
has been found dead, and three others were overcome by extreme
heat, including two on a rescue mission.
Jim Walter Resources spokesman Dennis Hall said Tuesday that two
miners were inspecting the No. 7 mine at Brookwood when they failed
to report as usual Monday night. One was found dead in extreme heat
and humidity, and the other had been overcome by exhaustion.
Hall said two miners on the rescue mission were also overcome by
the heat and taken to a hospital.
The names of the victims and their conditions were not
immediately released.
