Authorities are investigating the death of a well-known dentist. Tom Rice Jr was found dead in his home near Atmore last night, 11/21/2009. A neighbor, who's also an EMT, says Rice was found with a gunshot wound. We're told he was a devoted family man who loved animals. Rice had a dental practice in Atmore for several years.
"I would say shocked would be about the best way to describe it that this would happen to a neighbor next door,” says neighbor and EMT Jerry Gehman. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is investigating but they wouldn't comment on the case today. They have not ruled whether or not foul play is involved.
