Woman Grabs Stroller, Baby Not Inside

Escambia County sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible attempted kidnapping caught on tape.

Surveillance video from Walmart on Mobile Highway shows a woman getting out of a white SUV and walking toward a stroller. The stroller was sitting near the rear passenger door of a parked car. As the woman grabs the stroller, she's confronted by Krystal Spellman, 25, who was feeding her two month old son in the back seat.

Spellman says she confronted the stranger, who quickly turned around and walked back to her car.

"I was afraid she was going to come back with a knife or a gun," said Spellman, who believes the woman was trying to steal her baby.

The incident happened November 7th, but because the offense report was incorrectly filed by the responding officer, the information wasn't made public until ten days later.
