Around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night, people living in and around Grand Bay and Pascagoula heard a loud boom that shook and rattled their windows. Many people called News 5 to find out what was going on. The Pascagoula Police Department confirmed with the military that jets were involved in a training exercise. Police say the loud booming noises are believed to have been sonic booms. A sonic boom occurs when the jet breaks th esound barrier. The boom was reported from Pensacola to Pascagoula.
