The largest cruise ship ever based in Mobile, Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,056-passenger “Fun Ship” Carnival Fantasy, arrived Wednesday at the Alabama Cruise Terminal. The ship was delayed due to Tropical Storm Ida. The 70,000-ton Carnival Fantasy will sail four-day cruises departing Thursdays visit Cozumel, and five-day cruises departing Mondays and Saturdays visit Cozumel and Calica or Progeso.
Encompassing 10 decks and 855 feet in length, Carnival Fantasy underwent a multi-million-dollar upgrade that added an expansive WaterWorks aqua park, a Serenity adults only retreat, and tropical-style main pool area. Other features include 12 themed lounges and bars, three restaurants, extensive children’s facilities, a 12,000-square-foot health club, and a miniature golf course.
