Police have arrested a teenager accused of carjacking a woman in a church parkinglot.
According to Mobile police, a woman was walking to her car Sunday night after services at Forest Hill Church on Moffett Road. 17-year-old Charles Braggs demanded her keys. When the woman refused and threw her keys, police say Braggs hit her in the head with the butt of a .22 caliber rifle.
Braggs then picked up the victim’s keys, jumped in her 2004 Dodge Durango and took off.
About an hour later, Prichard Police spotted the victim’s SUV at Jessie and Collins Street. Braggs was arrested after a short chase. The SUV sustained damage to the driver side wheel and bumper. A .22 caliber rifle was recovered from the vehicle.
Braggs is charged with robbery and assault.
