PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Three Pensacola men will spend time in a
Florida prison for their role in the theft of more than $300,000 in
copper.
Circuit Judge Frank Bell sentenced 39-year-old Edward Whitfield,
45-year-old Darren Irving and 41-year-old Michael Nettles on
Thursday.
According to the Pensacola News-Journal, Whitfield was sentenced
to a 10-year prison term. Irving was given a nine-year sentence and
Nettles received a seven-year prison term. All three will also
spend time on probation and are required to make restitution
payments.
Telephone messages left with defense attorneys involved in the
case weren't immediately returned.
The group was arrested in 2008. Authorities believe they were
involved in a copper theft scheme that targeted a local General
Electric wind turbine assembly plant.
