FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Fort Walton Beach high school
student has been disciplined for hiding an obscenity in her high
school yearbook.
Principal Charlene Couvillon says the student, who was an editor
on the school's yearbook staff, has been punished for hiding an
obscene word in captions at the bottom of a yearbook page. The
first letters of the captions of photos were set off in bold red
ink, spelling out the word.
Couvillon said the girl was allowed to walk with her class at
her graduation ceremony and her parents paid for a sticker that was
placed on yearbook pages. But Couvillon called the act a "real
betrayal," and said the student's reputation had been damaged.
